Inseperable siblings- Life and Death (Part-2)

Lajjo was dragging Laxmi on the deserted street. Wind was scratching the skin off from the body trying to drink the blood below. Laxmi was even unable to breath but still was tumbling along with her mother-in-law. The nearby health center wore a deserted look and death seemed to be haunting the dim lit building of ill-maintained government body. Laxmi's soul tried to leave her body due to inconsiderable pain and she was losing her senses and also hope.

Lajjo somehow reached entry clenching Laxmi's arm and somehow managed to utter with teary eyes,"Babuji, help her!!". The center attendant gave a scornful look at the duo, intentionally overlooking the condition of the lady and barked,"What happened?" Lajjo managed to reply,"She is expecting. Please do something"

"Doctor has left. It will take time to call him back.
Fill this form and wait till then", yelled the attendant and left leaving a small paper in Lajjo's hands. She looked at the pale parchment paper having streaks and drops of black ink arranged all over it. She was lost in depressive thoughts, the thoughts which suggested that she was losing the battle. A sudden shriek broke her half sleep. Laxmi made a tearing cry and fell on the ground and looked like a fish out of water, writhing in pain. Lajjo was helpless. Attendent was nowhere to be seen. Laxmi's head was in Lajjo's lap and the older lady was trying to console her daughter-in-law hoping that she will give her a reason for her dynasty to survive. Moist eyes and thumping hearts was the similarity of both the women.

Legs were starting to deceive Jagdish. Walking on footpath didn't seem easier anymore. His left hand was a burden now to his body. He felt as if he was carrying a load without any reason. His torn shoes were now and then giving him sensation that footpath even had coarse gravel, ready to rip apart the hard sole of feet. He was cursing the time when he decided to enter the old Sabzi Mandi of Delhi, piled up with rotten vegetables and swarm of flies. He was cursing the time when he intended to pick up some vegetables from there. He was cursing the time when he lost his job. He was cursing the time when he married, thinking that he spoiled the life of a girl. He was cursing his body. He was cursing his feet. He was cursing his left hand.

Baaaaanggggg!!!!!!!!! Screeeeeeeeechhhh!!!!!

There was silence. Only thing he could hear was some people yelling and running towards him. And then he tried to sense some more. He took a deep breath and then stopped sensing. Black was everything outside and around him. The white rice he was carrying spilled on the ground soaked in bright red color. The ground near his head went wet due to his own saliva and blood. Gasping for some more air didn't help him now. Everywhere there were speculations.
"He must have been drunk."
"Not able to earn enough to eat, they get money to drink for sure."
"Its good that he died, people like these are burden to society"

A few distance away, a new life was crying sending a surge of happiness to mother and her grand-mother. Lajjo smilingly looked at the infant and said, "He looks like his father".

Delhi Police was informed about an accident near the main road and it came to clear up the dead body.

And as usual, Delhi never stops and moves on!!!!!!!!!!!
